Summer Nights
Double Portrait
Mixed Media: gouache, soft pastels, pastel pencils
Original Artwork (29.7cm x 21cm): Double mounted, ready for framing
As you may know by now, I am rather taken by interesting lighting and when I saw this silhouette and lens flare combination in a reference image, I was totally drawn in and knew I wanted to recreate it as an artwork. Plus, who doesn’t like a bit of romance in a beautiful setting?!
I started off painting a gouache base and then diverted to pastels to add more blend and to sharpen the details. This was an organic decision and I often find when creating my artwork that I have a knowing pull as to what to do next, what medium or colour to use, how to create a texture etc. This is a feeling rather than a forced thought process.
