It's All About The Location

You wouldn’t go looking for a fish in a tree because you know it wouldn’t be there.

The trick for spotting wildlife is to determine the area where they live. The best way of knowing that, is to look for spoor or tracks and traces (safari speak for footprints, droppings, disturbance of foliage etc.) and then plan a route to take in these areas on the off-chance that something might appear.

Wildlife can act elusively, so it is unlikely you’ll spot anything in the middle of a big, wide open field. Hedgerows are used for protection or concealment so scan the outer edges of the fields as you enter the area. When you get a lucky sighting, make sure you go back to the same area in future weeks. Animals claim their own specific territories so you could well see them scouting the same area for food time and time again.
