When I Grow Up...

£1,950.00

Elephant Calf and Elephant
Charcoal, soft pastels and pastel pencils

Original Artwork (50cm x 57.5cm): Double mounted plus gutter mount, ready for framing

This piece is about the aspirations and dreams we have as children. We grow up wanting to be big and strong like our caregivers and have few limitations on our capabilities. There is a beautiful naivety in youngsters and their boundless enthusiasm and sense of playfulness are infectious.

This piece also honours our role as adults and how we provide much needed support and guidance to the young people in our lives. With the recent death of my brother-in-law, my role as Auntie T has stepped up a notch and I aspire to be the steady, reassuring and loving presence my nephew and niece require.

This piece was originally inspired by my time in Botswana watching a gorgeous baby elephant as it navigated the world amongst its giant family members.
